Commercial : 2016 Coke Super Bowl Commercial

https://youtu.be/6W5pqlbh5sQ

Analysis :

In this commercial, it shows many people enjoying a Coca-Cola. No matter what they are doing, it ties back into them sharing a Coca-Cola. Coke shows different activities and people having fun which helps create a special nostalgia for the intended audience. It connects the people watching the commercial to memories they might have that are similar to things happening in the commercial. This is a perfect example of pathos. They provide an emotional appeal which might make people think “what if I had a Coca-Cola” in that moment. Another part of the commercial that might get the audience thinking about buying a Coca-Cola is the song they have in the background. In this commercial, the song starts out soft and keeps building up with the intensity of the commercial. One of the key lyrics in this song is “no one can stop me when I taste the feeling, nothing can ever bring me down.” Combining that line with the nostalgia of the memories they make you remember, they bring it all back to the text “you with Coca-Cola” and “Coca-Cola with the feeling” on the screen. This makes the audience want a Coca-Cola and whenever they drink a Coca-Cola, they will think of happiness and the good memories they have. Coke did a great job with this commercial and hammered the audience with pathos techniques. They captured the audience’s attention by going after their feelings and promoting their product at the same time. In a sense, Coca-Cola made their product the audiences feeling just by relating to their personal memories.
